POWERLIFT TRAINING

Employment Health Services offers a variety of procedures and examinations to facilitate current employment and pre-employment situations. Our services are proven to increase job performance and decrease turnover rate by giving your employees effective training to prevent injuries. We offer a lifting and material-handling training system designed to reduce or eliminate lifting and material-handling injuries.

Powerlift® is a distinct departure from the traditional squat technique of material handling. Instead, powerlift teaches a wide-stance technique. Powerlift teaches the basic body mechanics that are needed to generate safe material-handling skills, which are all derived from lifting techniques. Through comparing their "old way" with the "new way" of material handling, workers agree immediately that Powerlift is easier and safer for them and quickly integrate it into their specific job tasks.

Powerlift training has been exceptionally effective over the past 20+ years.  Incident reductions of 50 percent to 100 percent are easily achievable provided that you engage the three components of creating a material-handling safety culture based on Powerlift. We have clients who are injury-free10 years out using our training system.

FACILITATES HIGH COST OF INJURY

  • Back pain is the number-one reason that workers file a workers’ compensation claim.
  • Over 50 percent of all back injuries result from lifting.
  • Over 90 percent of all back injuries result in sprains and strains.
  • Over 97 percent of every healthcare dollar is spent on treatment. Only 3 percent is spent on prevention.

Powerlift training is used by many Fortune 500 companies and is the preferred training of the U.S. Postal Service, SuperValue and 3M Companies.

How Does It Apply to Industry?

  • Effective technique that has a proven record of reducing lifting and material-handling injuries
  • Hands-on experience
  • On-going training that reinforces a complete safety culture

Our facility will design a training program specifically for your company’s needs. We will be able to train your employees to handle the most unusual loads safely. For more information regarding the Powerlift® technique, you can visit http://www.powerlifttraining.com.

After almost any type of surgery, patients should avoid lifting more than a pound or two during the recovery period. At any time, however, children, adolescents, younger adults and elderly adults need to be aware of the load tolerance of the back and spine, especially as relates to their particular age or condition.
